IASA President - Mr Peter Smith
Sea Air Int'l, Ontario, Canada - President
Peter has worked in the Customs/Forwarding Industry since 1967, commencing as a junior with S.F. Sellar Customs Brokerage Ltd, Brantford, Ontario, Canada. Peter passed his Customs Brokers examination and was licensed as a Broker in 1969 and then moved to Toronto where he was employed as Toronto Air Freight Manager for Beacon International in 1971.
As part of a partnership, Peter purchased Sea Air International Forwarders Limited in 1978 and was President of TACC-Toronto Air Cargo Club from 1977-1980.
He has also served on many CIFFA (Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association) committees, meeting with airlines and airport authorities to discuss problems concerning the air freight industry.
In May 1997, Peter was elected an IASA Director at the Vienna General Assembly, and he was subsequently elected Vice President of IASA at the Bangkok General Assembly in November 2002.
He was elected to the post of President of the association in Paris in June 2004, the position he still holds today.
Peter has worked tirelessly for IASA and continues to be a driving force behind the associations continual global growth.

IASA Vice President - Mr Roger Madan
Director of Finance & Bad Payments
Roger was a Miami Dade College graduate in 1977 and was elected to the College Hall of Fame in 2008.
He passed the Florida International University Transportation Management Course in 1980 and he has held a U.S. Customs Broker’s license since 1983.
Roger has been the President of Air Marine Forwarding Co since 1983 and is a Certified Air and Ocean Dangerous Goods Specialist.
He is also a past President and Chairman of Florida Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association, a post he held from 2000-2005.
Roger received a University of Notre Dame Executive Certification in Negotiation in 2006. He is also fluent in Spanish and English.
Roger was elected to the Board of IASA as a Director in Italy in 2002 and elected as IASA Vice President in Sydney in March 2008.

IASA Director - Mr Bob Bulmer
Director of Communication & International Trade Sub-committee
Bob has been involved in the Customs and Forwarding industry in 1965, commencing work as a junior clerk with a small Sydney Customs Broker.
In 1987 he was employed by a Sydney based forwarder and left his Customs “roots” behind to take up the new challenge, and he has progressed through various management positions with a number of companies over the past 22 years. Bob has travelled extensively and has set up global agency arrangements for many of the companies he has represented in that time.
He was heavily involved in sales development and management in the Australian wholesale market for many years and spent extensive periods working in Germany and USA during this time.
Bob is a Past President of the Australia-Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a post he held from 1992-1996. He is also one of the founding members of GPSM in Australia.
He was elected as a Director to the IASA Board in Sydney in March 2008.

IASA Director - Mr Roberto Butta
Director of Membership Development, Co-operation & Grievances Sub-committee
Roberto was elected as a director to the IASA Board in Athens in September 2006.
Roberto has been active in the Italian Freight forwarding industry for the past 30 years.
He served for 10 years first as an employee and then as a director in one of the largest Italian forwarders. In 1989 he moved on to establish his own business. He is the President of Vector spa, and is one of the top 20 Italian International Forwarders.

IASA General Secretary - Mrs Angela Spellman

After a number of years spent as a Dental Practice Manager, achieving a distinction in DSA, Angela began a career with the largest UK utility company, British Gas. Following terms spent as Administration Assistant, Supervisor and ultimately Manager of the Chairman and Directors Administration Division, she was involved in the management of all senior personnel travel arrangements. She also managed the team of administrators responsible for the organisation of the annual IGE (Institute of Gas Engineers) conferences, an assembly of some 1000 delegates, including arrangements for Spouse entertainment and event continuity.
Angela has established and run a new department set up for Dell Computers to manage a global product recall , Angela ran a software training school in Windsor, tutoring corporate delegates in the use of most popular Microsoft packages.
Following a period as a freelance administrator in two well-known Freight Forwarders at London Heathrow, Walker Freight being the largest, Angela was offered the role at IASA in 1997 by the then Chairman, Mr Norman Leek. Working alongside and supporting the CEO, she was instrumental in relocating their Headquarters from Amsterdam to the current London base and has been controlling all administrative functions to date.
Promoted to General Manager in 2001, Angela continues to administer and promote the Association and to work with the Members on all IASA matters, including the organisation of the Board meetings and General Assemblies. |
